As founding CEO of Dogwood Health Trust, Antony pursues a vision of a community where everyone is healthy and thriving, regardless of who they are. As a brand new $1.5 billion health foundation, he has the unique opportunity and humbling honor to partner with the founding board to build an organization from scratch, and design the strategies that in partnership with the community will “move the needle” on health equity in Western North Carolina. Antony is passionate about equity and maximizing philanthropy’s potential to make a difference. His innovative philanthropy leadership, that achieves measurable impact results, has received national recognition. Prior to Dogwood, Antony was the founding President of Empire Health Foundation, where multiple public private partnerships improved the uninsured rate by 80%, decreased childhood obesity rates 12%, improved out of school suspensions by 64% and eliminated disparities for minority students, increased the pipeline of primary care providers by 40%, and attracted more than $400 million in resources from other public and private funders. Antony is a frequent speaker and moderator, including Independent Sector, NY Funders Alliance, State of Health Reform, GIH, Philanthropy Northwest, and facilitation of an Equity session at BoardSource. Antony has served on multiple national boards including Grantmakers in Health, Independent Sector, Philanthropy Northwest, AAPIP, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize National Advisory Board. He has received the HUD Secretary’s Award for Public Philanthropic Partnership, the Annual Public Health Leader Award from the Washington State Public Health Association, and The Community Leadership Award from the Washington Association of School Administrators, and “Best Place to Work” by the Journal of Business. Antony brings decades of experience in global nonprofit capacity building, venture capital law, technology, and social enterprises that transforms traditional philanthropy into a powerful engine for community collaboration and measurable systems change. Antony earned a BS from the University of California/Berkeley and a JD from Stanford Law School.
